Spring is slowly starting to show itself, and we're finally daring to think thoughts of sitting outside in the warm weather. There's gardening to plan, what plants will look best in which corner of the garden, when to get the lawnmower out, giving the patio a good sweep... maybe this year you're planning a hosting or seating area for your outside space too. The mowing we can't help with so much, but when it comes to seating areas we're here to assist!
We can make up any shape and size of outdoor cushion - from sets of individual chair seat cushions with ties to go on metal or wooden garden chairs to full day bed size seating areas. For fills, we offer anything from 5cm thin, ultra firm foam for extra support on hard outdoor surfaces to hulking 20cm thick, medium foam cushions to comfortably nap on in the sunshine.
The process of getting a bespoke cushion made, or set there of, for the garden is just as straight forward as it is for indoor cushions. We'll only need rough measurements to get the ball rolling. If the areas you'd like cushions for are rectangular, that's easy - we'll just ask for the length and width you'd like the cushions to be. Odd shaped cushions are no problem either, we'll ask for the max length and width for the whole area, then a drawing or photo of the area to go along with it to show the shaping. On top of seating cushions, we also offer back and bolster cushions to finish off your comfortable outdoor lounging areas. Slanted foam back cushions for support, big plump fibre filled cushions you can sink into, and water resistant scatter and throw cushions are all easily added to your project.
Then comes fabric choice - we have hand picked the selection available on our website from a wide range of high quality upholstery fabric suppliers. We can guide you through the process of picking the right fabric for your project. The range includes fabrics that are water resistant, wipeable and stain resistant, that have high UV resistant ratings and mould and mildew resistance. Let us know if you're planning on storing your cushions indoor or outdoors through periods of less pleasant weather, if the cushions will come into contact with sea water or chlorinated water and generally what usage they'll see, and we can advise on the best fabrics to use. We offer a sample service so you can look at the fabrics in the same light and areas that you'll have your cushions to find the best colour choice.
Why not mix things up and have complementary coloured back and seat cushions. Or add a contrast piping for a pop of colour!
The latest addition to our outdoor fabric selection is a fantastic all rounder. The Fahrenheit collection is easily cleaned with just water and has a treatment on the fabrics which protects against viruses, bacteria and mites. The fabrics in this range are also made with 94 - 95% recycled materials, are zero waste certified and are manufactured using 100% renewable energy.
A lot of our outdoor fabric range is also suitable for indoor use too - so when the sun pops its head back in of an afternoon or the wind picks up a bit, you can dust off the underside of the cushion you've been sat on in the garden reading and continue your book inside. For the insides of the cushions, we have a few choices. If your cushions will be spending a fair bit of time outdoors, we have a quick dry foam option which has larger bubbles in the foam, allowing for rapid water drainage, as well as optimal air circulation. If you cushions will be brought in during inclement weather, our standard foam options work well.
All our bench and seat cushions come with zips along one edge as standard so the covers can be removed for washing or airing out.
We can also offer made to measure fabric storage cases to keep your cushions together when it's time for them to go away for the winter again. These come with zips and can have carry straps, and will fold away nicely when not in use.
Our outdoor cushions are perfect for fire pit seating areas, outdoor dining chairs, for picnic benches and sitting in the grass on, garden day beds, summer house seats, and anywhere you want to sit comfortable outside!
